About Daily Comics

All comics are copyrighted by thier respective authors and/or owners. All this site does is link to the images from the respective websites, it it does so by generating links dynamically by predefined patterns. For instance the Garfield comics are always named something like ga030416.gif, where the numbers are a specific date.

As of version 3.4 the script may also fetch HTML-pages and parse them to find comics of a particular date.

Version 4.0, 2009-03-05:
Comics are now fetched by a scheduled job running on the server a few times a day, thus making page loads extremely fast and it now only shows working comics so you don't have to see broken links all the time.

Version 3.5, 2007-02-21:
Script converted to fit into a new php framework of mine, so all url's are now different, but oh so much better. Smoooooooth...

Version 3.4, 2005-06-26:
Added server side parsing and downloading of certain comics, this means additional comics has been added such as Dilbert which could not previously have been possible.

Version 3.3, 2003-12-25:
Added some more controls to the individual comics and restructured the tables a bit. (Well, basically rewrote the entire HTML structure.)

Version 3.22, 2003-12-13:
Fixed a little time-bug that's been lingering for forever, just hadn't gotten around to fixing it. Also made the date url point to the current page (even when displaying a single random page).

Version 3.21, 2003-12-12:
Just changed the behaviour of the previous day and next day-buttons when focusing on a single comic (for example if you press random).. now you still only see the same comic when pressing either of the links.

Version 3.2, 2003-06-07:
Added a little feature to temporarily display just one random comic of your choice without using cookies, just click the random-link right next to the comic name. Also changed so the image links go to the image source, not the comic website.. moved that up to the paranthesis after the comic name.

Version 3.1, 2003-06-03:
Added two comics.. Extralife and 8-bit Theater.. and removed Real Life.

Version 3.1, 2003-04-16:
Was bored.. in school, so I decided to code a config-page so users can hide certain comic strips at will. Ahh, nice feature. Oh, also added a random date feature.

Version 3.0b:
Rewritten from scratch.. again! This time in a totally different enviroment, namely PHP. All of a sudden Daily Comics was a lot more dynamic and it actually became useful.

Version 2.0:
Rewritten from scratch.. nicer C-code, better possibilities.. but still rather limited.

Version 1.0:
The first version of Daily Comics was created in C-code and was running as a compiled .exe on an IIS-server. The possibilities where end.. well, they where poor.

Other interesting comics:
ELFTOR, Little Gamers, theBUCKET, Men in Hats, Real Life
